Josh Vasquez lives in Savannah, GA with his wife and two daughters. The city is currently zombie free.

When did you know you wanted to be an author? Do you remember and can you share a specific time or story of when you knew?

I’ve always loved writing, but I don’t think I really wanted to be an author until I self-published my first book. After going through the process of creating something and putting it out there in the world, I really felt like that was something I wanted to do the rest of my life.
What do you love reading? What are some of your favorite books and authors? Why?
Honestly, anything Star Wars. I know that’s not a genre, but hey, I love digging deeper into the galaxy far far away. Of course, I read a lot of zombie stuff and some science fiction. And on the nonfiction side, I round it all out with books on theology.
Tell the readers about who has been influential in your writing career and why?
It may sound like a cheap answer, but probably every author I’ve ever read y’know? I take a little bit from everywhere, from everyone when I’m writing.
What are your favorite craft books? (For example, Stephen King’s On Writing). Why?
Of course, On Writing by Stephen King is in the list. For someone with such a prolific writing career, King doesn’t make good writing seem easy, but achievable. I also enjoy Chuck Wendig’s books on writing for when I need a more in-my-face encouragement on writing.
What goes through your mind as you are writing?
I had to think about this one. Writing flows pretty smoothly for me, the storytelling aspect of it all, so I guess I would just say I’m focused on how the story unfolds? Not sure if that answers the question, but that’s the best I can come up with!
What do you wish you had known when you first started writing? Why?
Not so much to do with writing, but I would have told myself to make better use of my time. Once you have kids, personal time becomes rare!
Do you have anything else you would like to share with the readers?
Just thank you for your kind words in reviews and posts on social media. Y’all don’t know how much that feeds me to keep writing !

The Plan by Josh Vasquez

The Plan – Josh Vasquez

A detective surveys a grisly crime scene straight out of a horror movie and wonders: was this a random slaying or a long thought out revenge plan gone wrong?

Nothing is ever as it seems. Ill-begotten wealth, fame, and glory come at a high price.

Featuring award winning authors and Horror Writers Association members, The Devil’s Due offers enthralling horror stories of underhanded deals gone awry.
