Claire and her family move from the old country to Savannah, Georgia in 1879. Her father Boris is the fifth-generation tailor to the Lord Montague. Her family has been the personal tailor to the Vampire for the last five generations, which Claire and everyone on the outside think are the Montague family. The Montague Family is a solitary and cruel vampire who takes leave every thirty years or so and comes back as the heir to the estate. Claire is ecstatic to travel to the New World. She feels it is her destiny to escape the Old Country and remake herself in America.

Unbeknownst to her, Claire is about to lose everything she holds precious and dear.
